Tiger Performance Center
For 47 years, Pat Mitchell coached the Cedar Falls Tiger Football team. Help us memorialize the new CFHS stadium field by raising funds to name field and support the SCHEELS Tiger Performance Center at the same time!
Let‘s raise $500K by the last home football game in the Dome!

Why Support the Tiger Performance Center?

The engineering program at Cedar Falls High School has connected me closely with other content areas and has given me more opportunities to bring rigor and relevance to my curriculum. The addition of the Tiger Performance Center would provide us the space to introduce aerospace engineering including the flying of drones in a controlled environment. The space would also allow for various competitions and testing of student-generated solutions to course projects.

The importance of health and wellness for all students that attend CFHS can’t be overstated. The addition of the Tiger Performance Center would provide students the ability to maximize their athletic and health potential at a very high level. Physical activity is important for everyone’s health. Having a space to accommodate so many different options would be extremely beneficial for students and staff alike. A center like this will continue to raise the bar of excellence in our community.

The addition of the Tiger Performance Center will provide all Cedar Falls students and student-athletes with a first-class facility to help them reach their full potential. This not only applies to our outstanding varsity athletic programs, but also to the general health and well-being of all of our Cedar Falls students. Having this state-of-the-art facility not only enhances the ability to meet the programming needs of our students but also provides a first-class experience for them now and for many years to come!

My experiences with athletics and performing arts at Cedar Falls High School were foundational to my later service as an Army officer. As an athlete and a musician, I learned both how to follow and lead and how to work as part of a larger team. Since leaving high school, I’ve been able to put those lessons to good use during my military career, serving in a variety of leadership positions at installations across the United States and during combat deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan. The addition of the Tiger Performance Center will ensure that future generations of CFHS students have similar opportunities for self-development. An investment in the Tiger Performance Center today is really an investment for our future.

Cedar Falls High School is where I learned to express myself in front of others. Through music, art, theatre and sports, I was always challenged to better myself and grow as an individual. I was given opportunities to pursue music much deeper than I would’ve on my own, honing the art of discipline which I still use today. Cedar Falls High School created special courses for photoshop where I was encouraged to explore and create without limits at a time when photoshop was new and not well understood by most, which I ended up using a lot later on in life. The opportunities are endless, all you have to do is allow yourself the room to explore and grow.

My time at Cedar Falls High School positively impacted my journey to becoming a Division 1 track and field athlete. However, being in the midwest, winter weather was a big obstacle to overcome when training for a spring sport. The addition of the Tiger Performance Center would provide students and athletes like me the opportunity to train indoors successfully. Aside from sports, I believe the performance center would have a positive impact on students’ mental health, as it would provide a place for individuals to stay physically active during the winter months. I would not be the person I am today without Cedar Falls Athletics, and I believe the Tiger Performance Center is a great investment for the community that will continue to push many generations of Tiger’s to become their best selves.
